His Beatitude Theophilos III Patriarch of
Jerusalem Visits Hellenic House
WASHINGTON, DC- On November 6,
2007 His Beatitude Theophilos III Patriarch of Jerusalem visited the
Hellenic House, AHI headquarters, in an impromptu courtesy visit.
His Beatitude is on his first
trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with various government officials.
Accompanying His Beatitude Theophilos III was AHI member Ambassador
Patrick Theros who is the Representative of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem
in Washington, D.C.
"It was a tremendous honor for us to have His Beatitude take
time from his very busy and intense schedule to visit Hellenic House.
I had the privilege to attend His Beatitude's enthronement as Patriarch of
Jerusalem at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in November of 2005. During
that visit I also had the opportunity to discuss with the Patriarch the
plight that he faces with the Israeli government, which refuses to
recognize the Patriarch. His trip to Washington confirms that he
enjoys world wide recognition as the Patriarch of Jerusalem despite the
continued refusal of the Israeli Government to recognize his election and
its continued interference with the management of the Patriarchate.
," said AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis.
