Penelope
Angelopoulos: A Yang Canadian
from Hellenic cultural heritage.
Penelope
Angelopoulos of Victoria, BC, was recently accepted to the Page Program at
the House of Commons in the nation’s capital. She was one of forty
first-year university students accepted from hundreds of applicants across
Canada. She is working for the entire sitting of the House, where her
duties are to assist the Speaker, Clerks and the Members of Parliament.
Penelope
is studying for a degree in International Relations and Modern Languages
in a French Immersion program at the University of Ottawa. Her interest in
international relations was fueled by the many moves in her life;
her father is a recently retired Naval Officer - and the family has
often traveled between Halifax, Victoria, Ottawa and England.
A
hardworking student and young citizen, Penelope won many scholarships; her
philanthropic endeavors were recognized by the Lieutenant Governor of BC
and she received numerous awards for academic achievement and community
leadership. Penelope’s parents, Georgia and Costa, and grandparents, Gus
and Evangelia Papaloukas of Victoria BC and Chris and Panayiota
Angelopoulos of Brossard, Quebec wish her continued success.
