All sessions will be held in Room 210 at the Centennial HP Science and Technology Centre located at 755 Morningside Avenue (corner of Morningside and Ellesmere Avenue).

 

Who are we?

Centennial College has one of the most ethnically, racially and culturally diverse student populations in the Ontario college system.  One survey revealed over 90 different ethno-cultural groups and almost 100 languages spoken by students of Centennial.

 

The English Department supports communication skill development in students across about 80 program areas; English courses are taught on all four campuses.

 

What type of person are we looking for to teach English?

We’re looking for someone who meets the following criteria:

  • Someone with a minimum of a 4-year university degree with demonstrated advanced competencies in reading, writing, research, study and analytical thinking skills

  • Someone with demonstrated  knowledge of composition, rhetoric, literature and/or report writing, or TESL certification

  • Someone with experience teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to adult students at a developmental and/or post-secondary level, or equivalent non-teaching experience

  • Someone comfortable with teaching students from a variety of cultures and linguistic backgrounds and with quite varied abilities and different orientations
