Calling All Volunteers to
the CNE
(Toronto
- May 30, 2006)— Each year, the Canadian National Exhibition
welcomes more than a million visitors through its gates to experience the
fun, adventure and ambience of Canada’s largest fair.
To assure that each visit is a positive and memorable one, The EX
recruits hundreds of volunteers each summer to assist in virtually every
area of the fair. In return,
volunteers get a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to play an important
role in one of Toronto’s most unique and exciting traditions. Known
as the Friends of the CNE, volunteers assist in essential duties
such as welcoming guests, distributing daily information and site maps, as
well as answering questions, and providing general assistance to CNE
visitors. CNE volunteers have the flexibility to choose the dates they
want to work and shifts they would like.
Shifts are available from: ·
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. ·
1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. ·
5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. “First
impressions are lasting ones, and for the majority of CNE visitors, our
volunteers represent the first contact they have with The EX once they
arrive through our gates,” says CNE General Manager David Bednar.
“Our volunteers play a critical role in the success of our fair,
and represent an important part of our team.
They ensure that all of our guests have a pleasurable visit, which
is a key reason why people keep coming back to The Ex.”
The Friends
of the CNE Volunteer Program has garnered great support from the
public since its inception in 2000. Over
the last six years, approximately 1000 enthusiastic volunteers have
dedicated more than 35,000 hours to the success of the CNE. In addition to
gaining valuable work experience, student volunteers can also receive
credit towards their secondary school volunteer requirements. Interested
volunteers can apply on-line at www.TheEx.com.

For more
than 127 years, The EX has “marked the spot” for fun. As one of
North America’s largest annual fairs, the CNE attracts well over a
million people over 18 days each summer. The 2006 CNE takes place
from August 18th to September 4th, with the CNE Horse Show and Casino
opening on July 31st and continuing throughout the fair. General
admission is $12 while attendees 60 and over, and children (13 and under)
pay $8. For more information visit the CNE website at www.theex.com or
