WASHINGTON-Former Massachusetts Governor and Democratic Presidential
Nominee  Michael S. Dukakis will be the Master of Ceremonies for the 83rd Grand
Banquet, announced Supreme President Franklin R. Manios.  The Grand
Banquet  takes place Friday, July 22, 2005, 7 pm, during the 83rd Supreme
Convention,  Boston.   It has been 20 years since the AHEPA family held its annual
meeting in the "Athens of America."

"We are thrilled to have Governor Dukakis emcee our banquet," said Manios.
"We have a deep appreciation for his years of public service as well as
his  contributions to the academic community.  He exemplifies the fulfillment
of  the American Dream."

During his political career, Dukakis was elected to an unprecedented
third,  four-year term as governor of Massachusetts and won the nomination for the
presidency of the United States in 1988 but was defeated by President
George  H.W. Bush.

Since June 1991, Dukakis has been a Distinguished Professor of Political
Science at Northeastern University and visiting professor at the School of
Public Policy & Social Research at UCLA.

The Supreme Convention, July 19 to 24, is designed to offer attendees the
opportunity to embrace their heritage through educational symposia and
social events, featuring live Greek music and dancing.  Moreover, the
annual  meeting presents a wonderful opportunity to discover all that the
Greek-American community has achieved in community service, education,
civic  duty, and philanthropy over the decades.

Other events of interest scheduled include:

*An Educational Symposium featuring Prof. Speros Vryonis, Jr., author of
the newly released work The Mechanism of Catastrophe: The Turkish Pogrom
of  September 6-7, 1955, and the Destruction of the Greek Community of
Istanbul  sponsored by the Educational Foundation and Penelopean Foundation (July 21,   4pm to 6 pm),

*A Cooley's Anemia Foundation Donation Presentation to Children's Memorial
Hospital of Chicago,

*Athletic Awards Luncheon, featuring four Hall of Fame inductions and
