Massachusetts Governor and Democratic Presidential
Nominee
Michael S. Dukakis will be
the Master of Ceremonies for the 83rd Grand
Banquet, announced Supreme
President Franklin R. Manios. The Grand
Banquet
takes place Friday, July 22,
2005, 7 pm, during the 83rd Supreme
Convention,
Boston. It has
been 20 years since the AHEPA family held its annual
meeting in the "Athens
of America."
"We are thrilled to have
Governor Dukakis emcee our banquet," said Manios.
"We have a deep
appreciation for his years of public service as well as
his
contributions to the academic
community. He exemplifies the fulfillment
of
the American Dream."
During his political career,
Dukakis was elected to an unprecedented
third,
four-year term as governor of
Massachusetts and won the nomination for the
presidency of the United
States in 1988 but was defeated by President
George
H.W. Bush.
Since June 1991, Dukakis has
been a Distinguished Professor of Political
Science at Northeastern
University and visiting professor at the School of
Public Policy & Social
Research at UCLA.
The Supreme Convention, July
19 to 24, is designed to offer attendees the
opportunity to embrace their
heritage through educational symposia and
social events, featuring live
Greek music and dancing. Moreover, the
annual
meeting presents a wonderful
opportunity to discover all that the
Greek-American community has
achieved in community service, education,
civic
duty, and philanthropy over
the decades.
