Applications are currently being accepted for the Fulbrigtht Visiting
Research Chairs in Creative Writing (fiction, non-fiction, poetry) at
Arizona State University and New York University. Benefits include
US$25,000, health insurance, visa services, on-campus support, assistance
with housing search, and Fulbright enrichment opportunites.
Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2006 for awards to be
taken up September 2007 or January 2008.
Eligibility requirements: established scholar, experienced professional,
or junior scholar with promising research/professional record;
Canadian citizenship; proficiency in English; no recent substantial
experience in the United States.
Fulbright Visiting Chair in Creative Writing at Arizona State University
Resident in the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at Arizona
State University, the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair will engage in
creative activity in poetry, fiction, and/or non-fiction, develop
partnerships, and guest lecture at the graduate or undergraduate level.
The Fulbright Visiting Research Chair will give a minimum of two public
readings and/or lectures; during the Spring semester, the candidate will
participate in the ASU Desert Nights, Rising Stars Creative Writing
Conference.
The Piper Center received a $10 million endowment to promote creative
writing excellence and to enrich the 20th ranked ASU Master of
Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing. The Piper Center is the creative
hub for writers and readers in the American Southwest and the artistic and
intellectual heart of a newly vibrant, multinational, and culturally
diverse world of writers.
Vibrant and focused on interdisciplinary and academic excellence, Arizona
State University is a Research One institution that is fully engaged with

Resident in the Creative Writing Program at New York University, the
Fulbright Visiting Research Chair will engage in creative activity in
poetry and/or fiction, develop partnerships, and teach one course at the
graduate or undergraduate level. In addition, the Visiting Research
Chair will have opportunities to deliver public lectures, give seminar
presentations, participate in conferences and related research, and
otherwise contribute to the intellectual life of New York University

three decades as a leading national center for the study of writing and
literature. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, creative writing at
N.Y.U. offers an immersion in events designed to cultivate and inspire.
