Police Charge Parents of Infant With Aggravated Assault

   

    PETAWAWA, ON, July 10 /CNW/ - Police have arrested and charged a man and a woman with the aggravated assault of their nine-week-old infant.

    The charges follow an investigation that began June 21, 2005 by officers from the Military Police Department of CFB Petawawa after Kegan Moore was admitted to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) with a fractured skull, fractured ribs and bleeding from the brain. Baby Kegan remains in the care of CHEO.

    On June 22, 2005, the investigation continued by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Services (CFNIS). On June 29, 2005, CFNIS requested the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and members from East Region Crime Unit, Upper Canada Detachment and the Criminal Investigation Branch were assigned.

    Arrested and charged July 8, 2005 are: Donald James MOORE, 30, and

Christina WELLWOOD, 23. Both have been remanded in custody and will appear in Pembroke court on July 12, 2005.

    The investigation is continuing by officers from CFNIS and the OPP under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Tim Millar, Criminal Investigation Branch.
