REPORT REVEALS McGUINTY BROKEN PROMISE ON AUTO INSURANCE

 QUEEN'S PARK -
NDP Auto Insurance Critic Peter Kormos says a new study
by  the Consumers Association of Canada shows that the McGuinty Liberals
continue to force Ontario drivers to pay amongst the highest auto
 insurance rates in the country.

"Despite promise after promise, Ontarians are still paying up to twice
as  much as drivers in public auto insurance provinces," said Kormos.
"McGuinty's desperate attempt to protect private insurance companies has
 backfired."

The study released today by Consumers Association of Canada shows
consumers in the four provinces with public auto insurance - British
Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec - continue to pay the lowest
rates, while drivers in Ontario pay the highest. For example, a male
driver in Toronto with a perfect driving record could pay up to $3000
dollars more for insurance than a driver in Vancouver.

"Despite all the promises, and all the claims, Liberal auto insurance
rates have gone up - not down - for many drivers," said Kormos. "When
will
McGuinty learn? Private auto insurance continues to cost more.  Only
public auto insurance will bring lower rates and fairness to the
system."
