Harper in recognition of Canadian Multiculturalism Day
OTTAWA
– Statement by Conservative Leader, and Leader of the Opposition,
Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P.:
“Today,
Canadians celebrate our nation’s multiculturalism.
“Canada
has more languages and cultural traditions than any other country in the
world. For generations, our
land has been a destination for peoples from all corners of the globe.
The world’s many cultural traditions have flourished here, and
together, we have built a multi-linguistic and multiethnic country of
which we can all be proud.
“Canada’s
diversity is Canada’s strength.
By preserving and promoting our many rich traditions, we have built
a strong common culture of understanding, respect, and tolerance.
At the same time, we have equipped our educational and business
communities with linguistic abilities and world experience that are
unparalleled anywhere in the world.”
“On
behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I salute all Canadians who
continue to contribute daily to building and preserving our diverse
cultural heritage.”
