Canadians contributing on the world stage

July 18, 2002 - What are Canadian researchers up to these days? How are they contributing on the world stage? To international development? You may have innovative and life-changing individuals in your own backyard living a thus far anonymous existence.

Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has prepared articles with Canadian community and regional newspapers in mind. Projects involving researchers in most provinces are highlighted in the following 11 articles. Experts in their field are involved in fascinating work abroad, which in many cases has repercussions at home.

We encourage publications across the country to either run the articles "as-is" or use them as springboards for their own reporting.

The articles are available at

Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is one of the world's leading institutions in the generation and application of new knowledge to meet the challenges of international development. For more than 30 years, IDRC has worked in close collaboration with researchers from the developing world in their search for the means to build a healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous society.
