The National Anti-Racism Council of Canada (NARCC) has an opening for a part-time position as a coordinate to undertake a three year anti-racist community capacity building project.

Duration of contract: one year renewable (3 months probation)

Responsibilities:

Over the next three years, to assist NARCC to

build dynamic working relationships with like-concerned organizations, groups and individuals across Canada

increase NARCC membership and strengthen the NARCC network

create a mechanism to compile a community-based national Report Card on Racism in Canada

conduct a experts' round table on developing an anti-racism analysis tool

host a national conference/consultation to examine the 20-year impact of the coming into force of the equality rights section under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

host four regional conferences with partners of NARCC

organize a Day of Dialogue in Ottawa with government representatives on issues relevant to anti-racism

develop a response capacity (including website and internet-based communications) to undertake timely and relevant community education

work with specific radicalized communities to address issues of
concerns with resources developed by NARCC

develop a media analysis and monitoring capability for NARCC and its network

assist in training local activists on the use of various analysis
tools developed by NARCC

coordinate meetings of the steering committee and advisory committee

liaise and communicate with NARCC membership on an ongoing basis


Qualifications



 Demonstrated community based experience and commitment to combating racism and related intolerance

Strong anti-racist and anti-oppression analysis and background
 Strong administrative and organizing skills
 Demonstrated experience in lobbying and other advocacy activities
 Solid knowledge with computer and internet based information
technology
 Strong written and oral presentation skills
 Demonstrated experience and ability to work with diverse communities and cross sectored groups
 Candidate should be flexible, resourceful, results oriented and a team player


The project coordinator will report to the NARCC steering committee.

Salary: 0.6 FTE at $50,000.00 per annum (including benefits)
