SAE president visits world capitals to raise funds for medical relief program

A 15-day visit to three world capitals has been launched by Mr. Andrew A. Athens, president of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), who is seeking to raise funds from private and public sources to support SAE’s Medical Relief Program.

Mr. Athens is visiting Athens, Greece, Nicosia, Cyprus, and London, UK, in his effort to raise funds to support the three medical centres in the Republic of Georgia and the 25-nurse visitation program in the Ukraine. Another large medical centre is expected to be opened by SAE in Mariupol, Ukraine, before the end of the year.

In addition, about 16 additional facilities or visitation programs are scheduled for the republics of the former Soviet Union which include Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia. SAE’s program was also recently expanded into Albania where facilities will be organized in cooperation with Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and all Albania.

“Every dollar we collect permits us to provide medical services worth an average of 24 dollars.” Mr. Athens emphasizes in his campaign to raise funds. “We are looking forward to the generous support from Hellenic communities worldwide. The trip has been exceptional in that we have received a great response from everyone we contacted."
