New Board of SAE holds first meeting

The new Executive Board of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) recently convened in Thessaloniki, headquarters of the organization, for the first time since the December SAE Convention.

During the February 16-20 meeting, the board members were assigned specific tasks and discussed the report on the 3rd World Convention of SAE. Following that, they reviewed and approved the regulations for the operation of the board and discussed SAE’s financial report.

A schedule for SAE’s future activities for the next two years was proposed and board members submitted reports for a coordinated strategy that will promote unity among Hellenes.

Mr. Andrew A. Athens, president of World SAE, reviewed the treasurer’s report and gave the board an update on the progress of the SAE Medical Relief Program which is already operating in Hellenic communities of the former Soviet Union. Expansion of this successful program is currently considered for the Hellenes of Southern Albania with the support of Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania Anastasios.
