THE AHEPA FAMILY MOURNS THE PASSING OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR HELEN G. PAPPAS

Helen G. Pappas, Executive Director for some twenty five years of the
Daughters of Penelope, an international philanthropic  women's group with headquarters in Washington, D. C., passed away Sunday
in  the George Washington University Hospital after  a lengthy illness.

Ms. Pappas became synonymous with the organization which she loved and for  which she had worked first as a member and  officer on every level of the organization and then as Executive Director  where all matters of management were her responsibility.

"We deeply mourn the  loss of Helen  Pappas as 'sister' to thousands and  friend to countless members of our sisterhood.  Her passing marks the end of  an era of gentility and kindness which were the hall marks of her office."
remarked Mary Boufis Filou, Ph.D., Grand President. "The love she felt for  this organization and for many of us was returned in kind. Expressions of  true grief and condolences have come from every part of the United States,  Greece and Canada."

Supreme President Gus J. James, II said, "Helen Pappas will be sorly
missed  by all of us in the AHEPA family.  She was a dedicated employee and I know  how much our AHEPA staff enjoyed working with her on daily basis in  Washington.  Helen was loved by all."

Ms. Pappas will be laid to rest Thursday, December 8.  Funeral services
were  held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Annapolis, Md.
