 AHEPA DONATES $36,000 TO ST. BASIL ACADEMY FOR NEW DORMITORY WINDOWS

 WASHINGTON-The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the largest and oldest association of American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes, donated $36,000 to St. Basil Academy, Garrison, N.Y., announced Supreme President A. Jack Georgalas.  The contributionWill provide new windows for the boys' dormitory.

 

 "We are overjoyed to make this contribution to St. Basil Academy," said

 Georgalas.  "We take pride in knowing that we are helping the academy

 fulfill its mission to the youngsters who entrust their futures in St.

Basil's."

children have a deep sense of pride and appreciation for the support of our AHEPA.

 The AHEPA family is a part of a real, vital, life transforming mission."

 

 The AHEPA family's history of charitable giving to St. Basil Academy is

well documented.  Over $1.8 million was donated to St. Basil Academy during the 20th century for the construction of dormitories and a school building.

 

 St. Basil Academy is a philanthropic center of the Greek Orthodox

 Archdiocese of America where resident children are nurtured into

adulthood.

 In 1922, AHEPA was founded in Atlanta in response to the evils of bigotry

 and racism of early 20th century American society that targeted immigrants

 of many ethnicities.  It also helped Greek immigrants assimilate into

 American society.

 

 Today, the mission of the AHEPA family is to promote the ideals of

 Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and family and
